Water Line Repair Services

Is a squishy yard or sudden pressure drop ruining your day? We look at the problem first, then show you repair and replacement options in writing.

Water line repair fixes or replaces the underground pipe that carries water from the meter to your house. Pro Sewer Repair repairs the water line, or replaces the whole line when that is the right scope — trenchless where the site allows. A secondary service from a sewer company.

What is the water service line, and who owns it?

The water service line is the buried pipe from the utility's meter to the house. The utility owns the main in the street and the meter; the owner is responsible for the line from the meter to the building. In older Seattle-area houses that line is often galvanized steel, which corrodes from the inside and closes down over decades, or copper with a failed joint; newer houses have polyethylene or PEX. The house-age pipe guide is about sewers, but the eras match.

What are the signs of a leaking water line?

  • A whole-house drop in pressure — a single fixture with weak flow is usually that fixture; every fixture at once is the service line or the shutoff.
  • A water bill that jumps with no change in how you use water.
  • A wet, soft or unusually green patch between the meter and the house, or water at the foundation, in dry weather.
  • The meter turning when everything inside is off.
  • Discolored water — a rust tint can point to failing galvanized pipe.

Repair or replace the water line?

What we findThe fix that fits
One failed joint or a single puncture in otherwise sound pipeSpot repair — a hole at the failed spot, new section and fittings
Galvanized steel corroded through, or a line patched beforeFull replacement — new line from the meter to the house
A route under a driveway, patio or mature treesTrenchless replacement where the site allows — a new line pulled from two pits

You see repair and replacement side by side, in writing, before a price; access and restoration depend on the project, and your written scope spells out what to expect. We do not promise a trenchless water line until the route and the soil have been evaluated.

What happens on a water line repair visit?

  1. A real person answers, any hour. If water is running, we tell you how to shut it off at the meter or the house valve first.
  2. Diagnosis first — we look at the problem before recommending a repair.
  3. Options in writing — repair, replacement, and trenchless where it fits. Estimates and second opinions are free.
  4. Permit where the city requires one for the service line or the right-of-way; we handle it.
  5. The work, then the written paperwork for your job.

Water line repair around Seattle: who to call first

If water is pouring out of the ground or into the house, shut it off — at the house's main valve if the leak is inside that point, or at the meter if it is between the meter and the house — and then call us; a real person answers any hour. If you cannot find or turn the meter valve, the water utility (Seattle Public Utilities inside Seattle; your city or water district elsewhere) can shut the meter. The utility is responsible for the main and the meter; the line from the meter to the house is the owner's, and that is the part we repair or replace.

What affects the cost of a water line repair?

We do not publish a price range. What moves the number is the length and depth of the run, what is on top of it (lawn, driveway, patio, trees), whether the leak can be spot-repaired or the material calls for a full replacement, whether a trenchless pull is possible, the permit, and restoration. You see repair and replacement priced side by side, in writing, before you decide; financing is available through Service Finance.

Why a sewer company for water line repair?

Pro Sewer Repair has been family-owned in Seattle since 2017 and stays sewer-first: water line repair is a real service we want, but sewer replacement, trenchless repair and camera inspection are the core. We do not do water heaters, faucets or fixtures. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; financing through Service Finance. Call (425) 478-3133 or request an estimate online.

Water Line Repair: questions people also ask

Does Pro Sewer Repair work on water lines?

Yes. Repairing and replacing the underground water service line - the pipe between the meter and the house - is an active secondary service. It is not a general plumbing service: we do not do water heaters, faucets or fixtures.

How do I know my water line is leaking?

A whole-house drop in pressure, a water bill that jumps with no change in use, a wet or unusually green patch between the meter and the house, water at the foundation, or the meter turning when everything inside is off. Discolored water can point to old galvanized pipe.

Can a water line be replaced without digging up the yard?

Sometimes. Depending on the route, the soil and the material, a new line can be pulled through or alongside the old path from two pits instead of trenching. We do not promise a trenchless water line until the site has been evaluated.

Can you replace the whole water line?

Yes, when replacement is the correct scope - old galvanized steel that is corroding from the inside, a line that has been patched repeatedly, or a route that needs to move. You see repair and replacement side by side, in writing, before a price.

Is water line repair a 24/7 service?

Yes. A broken water service line is an emergency for the house and can be one for the foundation. Pro Sewer Repair is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and a real person answers the phone.
